DE: "Dark klingt´s" war mein erster Gedanke, als ich nun endlich die finalen 13 Stücke für mein nächstes Album "under control" zusammenstellt und als Master gebrannt hatte. "Under Control" ist 100%tig moonbooter. Ich habe schon oft gesagt, daß es mir persönlich beim Musik-Machen um den "can You feel it"-Effekt geht. Bei allen neuen Stücken, die es auf´s Album geschafft haben ist genau das passiert. Es gab kein Konzept. Klar, die Themen "Weltraum" und "NASA" waren zwar präsent, aber kein Leitthema mehr. Meine manchmal melancholische Stimmung im letzten Jahr habe ich konsequent in Musik umgesetzt. Ich habe viel mit neuen Sound´s, Synthies und natürlich Plugins experimentiert. Ganz klar ein Ergebnis der Erfahrungen aus den letzten Alben. Musikalisch gesehen ist "under control" ein Mix aus "Dark Ambient", etwas "Depeche Mode" und viel klassischer EM. Also es gibt viele Arp´s, die ich aber reichlich aufgebrezelt habe. Aber auch Exoten haben den Weg auf´s Album gefunden. Zum Beispiel "e m da phunk", einem EM-Track mit Naturdrums, Funkgitarre, Froese-Leads und JD-800-Hooks. Ich hatte den Track erst nur als Zugabe für´s Ambient-Experience-Konzert produziert und war von dem überaus positiven Feedback zu diesem Titel überrascht.
Man sollte mein "under control" auch mal über Kopfhörer geniessen und auf die ganzen "Kleinigkeiten" achten. Davon habe ich nämlich sehr viele eingebaut.
Die Arbeit an "under control" hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht und ist mein persönlich, bestes Album bisher geworden. Aber letztendlich müssen andere das Album bewerten. Ich hoffe, daß es Euch gefallen wird.

„Sounds dark“ was my first thought, when I assembled at least the final 13 tracks for my new album “under control” and burned it to the Master-CD. “under control” is 100% moonbooter. I said in past, that I am hunting for the “can You feel it”-effect, and any track on my new CD was composed and produced with such emotions.
I had no concept. Of course, the Space and NASA-Topic was present, but not in charge. I put my melancholical moods of the last year straight into my music. I experimented a lot with new sounds, synth´s and plugins. But also the experiences from my last productions helped me to create whatever I imagined. So “under control” became a mix between “Dark Ambient”, some “Depeche Mode” and a lot of traditional Elektronic Music. I used many different arps and used them in different ways. With “e m da phunk” I produced an EM-track with natural drums, a funk-guitar, Froese-Leads and JD-Hooks as a bonus for my last concert (ambient-experience), and I was surprised by the absolutely positive feedback from the audience.
You should enjoy “under control” on Your headphones and listen to all the small effects an things I built in. The work on “under control” has pleased me very much and I think it´s my best album so far. But finally others have to judge that. I hope You´ll like it.

DE: [Als stolzer Mitbegründer des brandneuen Labels für intelligente, elekronische und organische Musik „MellowJet“ präsentiert MOONBOOTER seine mittlerweile vierte CD. Ein kraftvolles Soundspektakel, das mit nspirierender Energie zur Sache geht. Schon der Eröffnungstrack ist alles andere als „real“. Vieles klingt ein bisschen nach „instrumentalen“ Depeche Mode. DE [...Fazit: Auch mit seinem vierten Werk führt Bernd den eigenen Stil und herausragenden Standard, den er bereits 2005 auf seinem Debüt „Teralogica“ gesetzt hat, nahtlos fort. Dabei versteht er es, seine Reminiszenzen an andere „große“ der Elektronik durch eindeutig erkennbare Klangtupfer in seinen Tracks unterzubringen. Klangtechnisch lässt die Produktion keine Wünsche offen und bis auf den Track „Cold Sun“ gibt es keinen Ausfall auf der CD zu verzeichnen. DE: [Also wenn ich ein Kochbuch schreiben würde,dann wäre es so : Man nehme 1 Prise Space , 1 Prise klassische Elektronische Musik sowie 1 kleine Prise Techno,mische das alles mit guten Instrumenten, Geräten und alles was dazu gehört .... und was wird es ?? Es lohnt sich wirklich diese CD zu kaufen , sie lässt sich sehr angenehm hören , ohne störende oder nervende Passagen. Super Klang , harmonisch abgestimmt .... Klasse !! Moonbooter (Bernd Scholl) hat sich innerhalb kurzer Zeit zu einer festen Größe in der Szene avanciert . Und das Ergebnis mit den bisher 4 CDs , sowie einer DVD spricht für sich. DE: [ August 2007 erschien das vierte Album vom moonbooter alias Bernd Scholl. Zu den Eckdaten: Es gibt 13 neue Stücke, exakt 79 Minuten und 20 Sekunden elektronische Musik, durchschnittliche 104 BPM. Die Titel haben eine Spiellänge zwischen vier und acht Minuten.
Der Sound der einzelnen Stücke ist sehr unterschiedlich. Bernd hat sich ganz eindeutig vieler Genres bedient, bleibt aber sich und dem Motto „EM“ aber definitiv treu. Gleich Track 1 „not real“ startet mit sehr interessanten Arplinien und einer eingängigen Melodie. Die chorale Stimme im Hintergrund des Openers „singt“ er übrigens selbst. Wer das Ambient-Experience Konzert im Januar besucht hat, dem werden vielleicht ein paar (vier) der neuen Titel schon bekannt sein. Zum Beispiel „e m da phunk“ einem gelungenen Mix aus EM und Funk, den Bernd als Zugabe spielte. Track 3 widmet sich dem Thema „Weltraum“. Im Intro des Songs erklärt ein Vocoder die „String Theory“ und mutiert zu einem sehr interessanten Piano-Dream mit düsteren Soundeffekten. Im vierten Song geht´s dann langsam los. „Silence de la nuit“ ist ein gemächlicher Dancetrack, wieder mit Vokoder, Soundspielereien und Elementen der klassischen EM. Bei Progression war ich sehr verwundert. Anfängliche Elektrobeats werden auf einmal zu Akustischen und zusätzlich spielt eine E-Gitarre, gefolgt von einem Pianosolo. Mit „mellowman“ haut uns der moonbooter dann eine Portion House um die Ohren und kommt dann aber wieder schnell im nächsten Track „said goodbye“ zur Ruhe. Im neunten Track geht´s dann richtig ab. Mit „end splice anthem“ rückt Bernd musikalisch in die Nähe von Prodigy oder Orbital. Als Breakbeat ist er wohl eher für die jüngere Generation gedacht, was wohl auch die ansehnliche Chartposition bei Uptrax und ein paar Airplays bei Sunshinelive erklärt. Mit „cold sun“ und „gapless time“ hat man dann aber genug Zeit zu entspannen und verträumte Melodien zu hören. Der letzte Titel „3 months and 3 weeks“ ist zugleich auch der Längste. Bernd hat auch hier wieder ein paar sehr interessante Gimmicks eingebaut. Der Titel wechselt mehrfach die Melodie und klingt nach einem Mix aus unterschiedlichen Songs. Zitat: „Eigentlich sollte der Song „80th, please come back“ heißen. Diese Zeilen hab ich dann aber anders eingebaut. Die unterschiedlichen Parts habe ich im Laufe vom 15 Wochen immer weiter dazu gefügt.“
„under control“ ist wohl moonbooter´s bestes Album. Es gibt absolut keine Langeweile, denn jeder Song ist anders und besitzt seine eigene Seele. Das Album ist zudem sehr gut produziert. Bernd bleibt seinem eigenen Stil, den man in jedem Song hört uns fühlt, treu. Natürlich können alle Tracks auf Bernd´s Webpage vorgehört werden. Dies wird aber den Titeln eigentlich nicht gerecht, da sich die besondere Stimmung erst beim Hören in voller Länge einfangen lässt. Ein wirklich außergewöhnliches Album. FM April 2007

EN: [EM can be more than a sequence music bordering the progressive are, as this last Moonbooter opus. On Under Control, Bernd Scholl deepened even more its musical style. A style that orientates more and more on progressive techno, with a zest of moderately syncopated tranceon an always harmonious approach , bordering the Jarre and Vangelis style. Pushing its musical reflexions further, Bernd Scholl adorns its 13 new compositions with high syncretic sound elements, which are in euphonies with all those melodious structures. Among that, he inserts corrosive orchestral arrangements, of which the multiplicity of the synths layers add a dimension extremely coloured to this very articulated sound fauna.
Not Real opens the dance with a vaporous intro where vocal samplings pour in the futuristic mood. Soft arpeggios scintillate in a static environment, before a fine hatch movement shows his beat. The movement is slow and turns sensuously on good orchestral manoeuvres which are the high point of this new Moonbooter opus. Beyond voices and mellotron synths, the German synthesist makes its synth speaks, like a guitarist does it with a talk box. A creative and soft title, like Said Goodbye, Last Contact (AM) which is a pure Vangelis jewel style and Cold Sun. In fact Not Real is a soft prelude to an explosive album, where the rhythms twist on stroboscopic sequencers of a strong intensity.
The opening of Arped Obsession is brilliant with its arpeggios serpentine that runs towards a dark and throbbing atmosphere. Synths are metallic and mould symphonic voices on sequences which return zigzagged on a musical axis more syncopate. The pulsations become heavy and knock with gravity in an effervescent sound universe where each recess conceals its sound effects. A track that flirt with extreme trance, especially with its rumble tribal percussions.
And thus Under Control goes. If String Theory, Progression, Gaples Time and 3 Months & 3 Weeks alternate between dark atmospheres of a more floating music and wild rhythms, Silence of the Night, Mellowman, End Splice Anthem and EM Da Phunk are on the other hand more corrosive and provocative, with some heavy and syncopated sequences with zombie tribal effects. Under Control is an opus of great sound diversities, which we listen with intensity not to lose an ion of this sound disproportion. To recommend with a good headphone, in order to reach it’s musical bounders.

FR: [La MÉ peut dépasser les cadres d’une musique séquencée aux frontières progressives, comme le dernier Moonbooter. Sur Under Control. Bernd Scholl approfondie encore plus son style musical. Un style qui s’oriente de plus en plus sur du techno progressif, avec un zest de ‘’trance’’ modérément syncopé sur une approche toujours harmonieuse à la croisée de Jarre et Vangelis. Poussant plus loin sa réflexion musicale, Moonbooter tapisse ses 13 nouvelles compositions d’éléments sonores syncrétiques, qui sont en euphonies avec ses structures mélodieuses, sur des arrangements orchestraux mordants, dont la multiplicité des strates synthétisées ajoutent une dimension fort colorée à cette faune sonore très articulée. Not Real ouvre la danse avec une intro vaporeuse où les samplings vocaux versent dans le futuriste. De doux arpèges scintillent dans un environnement statique, avant qu’un fin mouvement hachuré prenne la relève. Le mouvement est lent et tourne sensuellement sur de bons arrangements orchestraux qui font la force de ce 4ième opus de Moonbooter. Au-delà des voix et synthés mellotronnés, le synthésiste allemand fait parler son synthé, comme un guitariste le fait avec un talk box. Un titre créatif et doux, comme Said Goodbye, Last Contact (AM) qui est un pur bijou à la Vangelis et Cold Sun. En fait Not Real est un doux prélude à un album explosif, où les rythmes vrillent sur des séquenceurs stroboscopiques d’une forte intensité. L’ouverture de Arped Obsession est géniale avec son chapelet d’arpèges qui coule vers une atmosphère sombre et lancinante. Les synthés sont métalliques et épousent des voix symphoniques sur des séquences qui reviennent zigzaguées sur un axe musical plus syncopé. Les pulsations deviennent lourdes et cognent avec pesanteur dans un univers sonore effervescent où chaque recoin recèle ses effets sonores. Un titre aux limites du trance, surtout avec ses percussions tribales. Et ainsi va Under Control. Si String Theory, Progression, Gaples Time et 3 Months & 3 Weeks oscillent entre des atmosphères sombres d’une musique plus planante et des rythmes endiablés, Silence de la Nuit, Mellowman, End Splice Anthem et EM Da Phunk sont en revanche plus mordants et provocateurs, avec des séquences lourdes et syncopées aux effets zombiesques tribaux décapants. Un opus d’une grande diversité des sons, qui s’écoute avec intensité pour ne pas perdre un ion de cette démesure sonore. À recommander avec un bon casque d’écoute, pour atteindre les limites sonores. DE: [ ...klasse Scheibe, hast wieder einmal zugelegt. Das ist eine optimistische, fröhliche Musik, die wieder zeigt, dass man auch intelligente dancelastige EM machen kann. DE: [Moonbooter der kommende Elektro-Papst aus dem Kölner Raum scheint auf seinem Weg unaufhaltsam zu sein. Mit seinem 4. Album „Under Control“ entwickelt er das Spektrum seiner musikalischen Bandbreite deutlich weiter. Zu den bekannten Soundteppichen verwendet er noch mehr Effekte und macht Abstecher in andere Musikrichtungen wie z.B. Funk oder House. Diese sind aber so brillant integriert, dass es irgendwie rund klingt und für das audiophile Empfinden ein Genuss darstellt. Das Album ist insgesamt sehr komplex und zeigt eigentlich keine wirklichen Höhen und Tiefen. Es ist durch die Bank auf einem sehr hohen Niveau.
Daher fällt es schwer einen Titel herauszuheben. Ich habe mich für „Progression“ entschieden, schon alleine weil der Name Programm ist. Und zwar nicht nur für den Titel, sondern für das gesamte Album. Wer also dem Alltag entfliehen will und auf wunderbare Art und Weise in eine andere Dimension gelangen will, der sollte unbedingt Moonbooters „Under Control“ im Handgepäck haben und mit ihm auf die Reise gehen...
